2-phenoxyethanol/Ethylene Glycol Monophenyl Ether

Phenoxyethanol is used as a preservative in cosmetic products to limit bacterial growth. A review of 43 cosmetic products demonstrated that only 25 percent of the products had concentrations of phenoxyethanol greater than 0.6 percent and the mean concentration of phenoxyethanol was 0.46 percent. Phenoxyethanol is also used as to stabilize components found in perfumes and soaps.

Product Application

1.Cosmetic preservative: In cosmetics and personal care products, ethylene glycol phenyl ether is mainly used to inhibit microbial growth and extend the shelf life of products. It is usually used in combination with other preservatives such as chlorophenyl ether and IPBC to improve the antiseptic effect

2.Inkjet inks: In inkjet inks, ethylene glycol phenyl ether can reduce surface tension and improve storage stability.

3.Medical use: In medicine, ethylene glycol phenyl ether can be used as a fungicide, antiseptic and acaricide.

4.Flavor and fragrance industry: in the flavor and fragrance industry, it is the basic raw material for the synthesis of flavor phenoxyethyl isobutyrate, and is commonly used as a flavor protectant, anti-corrosion agent and fungicide.

5.Hard surface cleaning and disinfection products: In hard surface cleaning and disinfection products, ethylene glycol phenyl ether can enhance the sterilization and disinfection effect.

6.Hair colorants and NAIL POLISH colorants: Because of its good solubility and miscibility, ethylene glycol phenyl ether is commonly used as a solvent and osmosis aid for hair colorants and nail polish colorants.

7.Ink, ballpoint pen oil and printing table ink: Ethylene glycol diphenyl ether is also a solvent and modifier for ink, ballpoint pen oil and printing table ink.
